Our Guiders’ Inspiring Trip to Tanzania: A Testament to Learning, Sharing, Empowering Communities, and Making new friends.

In a heart-warming and educational experience, a delegation of 59 Guiders embarked on a remarkable journey to Tanzania, where they participated in the first International Guiders’ Camp from 29th August to 3rd September. This trip was not just a gathering of like-minded individuals but a powerful exchange of ideas, experiences, and strategies aimed at addressing some issues in society today and grow our the guiding movement.

A Focus on Human Rights: Women and Children at the Forefront

One of the pivotal themes of the camp was human rights, with a particular emphasis on the rights of women and children. The Guiders had the unique opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with their Tanzanian counterparts, learning about the local challenges and sharing insights from their own experiences.

The exchange was enriching for both sides, with Tanzanian Guiders providing valuable perspectives on the cultural and legal frameworks affecting women and children in their country. In return, our Guiders offered strategies and solutions from their own contexts, fostering a mutual understanding of the global struggle for equality and justice. The discussions emphasized the importance of advocacy, education, and grassroots efforts in ensuring that women and children can live free from violence, discrimination, and inequality.

Turning Ideas into Reality: Mastering Resource Gathering

Beyond the discussions on human rights, the camp also focused on the practical aspect of turning ideas into impactful realities. The Guiders delved into sessions on resource gathering, a critical skill for any community-driven initiative. Learning how to effectively mobilize resources—whether financial, human, or material—was a key takeaway from the camp.

Through workshops and interactive activities, the participants learned to identify potential resources within their communities, develop fundraising strategies, and create partnerships that can sustain long-term projects. This knowledge is essential for transforming abstract ideas into tangible projects that can make a real difference in the lives of those they aim to help.

A Journey of Growth, Empowerment and Fun

The trip to Tanzania was more than just a camp; it was a journey of growth, learning, and empowerment. The Guiders returned home with a wealth of knowledge, new perspectives, and a renewed commitment to making a positive impact in their communities. They are now better equipped to advocate for human rights, gather resources, and support essential projects that uplift women and girls.

It was also a trip full of fun as we all know that “if it’s not fun, it’s not guiding”. Ours guiders had the opportunity to visit the beautiful landscape of Tanzania especially the Zanzibar island were they enjoyed the beach and the company of the tanzanian guiders.

This experience in Tanzania stands as a testament to the power of international friendship, shared learning, and the unwavering dedication of Guiders to creating a better world for all.
